About us
OUR MISSION
Is to support amateur horse owners and riders in caring for and educating their horses. We are committed to respecting and supporting each other, and equally importantly, respecting these beautiful horses that we are lucky to have in our lives.
WHY WE EXIST - THE PROBLEM
The equestrian industry largely caters to either the high-volume market of amateur children, or to elite competitors. Frequently, horse owners are assumed to be elite competitors, actual or aspiring.
Adult amateur horse owners can struggle in these environments because:
- They often have had a fall and are not given the respect and time to work with their fears
- They are assumed to have previous knowledge because they own a horse
- They feel out of place because they don’t have aspirations to compete at elite levels
- They are pressured into learning faster than they feel comfortable with
- They lack control over the treatment of their horse
- They feel the social connection that makes equestrian sports so rewarding is missing in high-volume, ’transactional' riding centres.
OUR DIFFERENCE
We deliberately focus on providing for the needs of adult, amateur horse owners and riders. We provide:
- Agistment, training and schooling in the one environment
- Patience and empathy toward adult amateurs, assuming no previous knowledge. This means not assuming everyone wants to compete, going at each rider’s desired pace, and providing education in basics such as ground work and equine care
- Horse management and schooling is in line with an owner’s emotional bond with their horse (for example no other riders and meeting each horse’s specialised needs)
- A feeling of belonging as all members are in the same situation
- Organising appropriate events to encourage confidence and fun for our riders. This includes group outings to competitions, clinics with external professionals and social events.
About Calgary Park
Calgary Park is a purpose-built equestrian facility near the heart of Berrima in the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales.
In addition to being the home of Inner Circle Equestrian, Calgary Park is home to an extended family of chickens, ducks, geese, miniature goats and a very lazy cat named Spot. The wilderness areas of Calgary Park and its surrounds are full of trail riding trails, and home to many kangaroos, wallabies, wombats and bird life. You will frequently see resident cockatoos Alan and Steve around the stables, and resident kangaroo Timmy in the gardens.
